His obsession for martial arts ultimately leads him down a different path… one that few have ever dared to take. This prequel takes us into the world of martial arts, called murim, where a young member of a demonic sect trains his way up through the ranks. The premise is a classic rise-through-the-ranks story, and the series gives it grit and a sense of scale. It is built for fans of the main story, but it works on its own terms. The action is the highlight. Martial-arts choreography is clean and dynamic, and the long-strip pages let each fight breathe. The rivalry and discipline inside the sect give the story a strong backbone, and the lead's dedication is easy to respect. The weaknesses are clear. Newcomers may find the sect politics dense, and the story assumes some familiarity with the wider world. The pacing can feel heavy when the training and hierarchy take over.Recommended for martial-arts fans who want a grounded origin story. Expect a serious tone and plenty of hard work.
