Yuru Yuri begins with a new club. Right after starting middle school, Akari Akaza joins the Amusement Club, which is made up of her two childhood friends. Chinatsu Yoshikawa, a classmate, joins after learning that the Tea Club has been dissolved. The Amusement Club has taken over the tea-room facility and has no clear purpose, so the girls are free to do whatever they like. The premise is an easygoing, cheerful slice-of-life built on friendship and idle fun.The series is most charming when the girls' small, goofy adventures unfold. The relaxed structure lets each episode be a little snapshot of youthful silliness, and the ensemble's warmth keeps things friendly. The weaknesses are very little plot and gags that can repeat across a long run. Readers who enjoy soothing, lighthearted school life will find a pleasant companion. Those wanting momentum may find it aimless, though the cheer is consistent.
