Our hero spent his last moments swearing off the sword. Then fate hands him a second life, and the story quickly makes that promise harder to keep. It is a neat hook, and the whole series hinges on the tension between who he is and what the world expects him to become. The full-colour fights are the highlight. They are clean, easy to follow, and paced to give each blow weight. The lead's deadpan reluctance is funny, and the way he handles problems with minimal effort gives the series its personality. The downside is familiarity. Reincarnation and a hidden talent are well-worn ground, and readers who have read a lot of isekai may find few surprises. Some of the comedy also falls into repeating patterns, so the joke can grow stale. If you enjoy an easygoing swordplay fantasy with a reluctant lead, this is a solid binge. Expect comfortable choices rather than bold ones.
