Takao is training to become a shoemaker. One day he skips school and sketches shoes in a Japanese-style garden, where he meets a mysterious woman, Yukino, who is older than him. That quiet encounter is the heart of the story, and it sets up a relationship built on small, careful meetings. The premise is simple and deeply atmospheric. The strength is the mood. Rain, gardens and the rhythm of daily life create a melancholy, almost dreamlike feel. The emotional beats are restrained, and the tenderness between the two characters lands gently rather than dramatically. The weaknesses are clear. The run is short, so the relationship has little room to unfold. The quiet pace will not suit readers wanting a plot-driven romance, and some moments may feel slight.Recommended for readers who love quiet, rain-soaked romance with a strong sense of place. Take your time and let the atmosphere settle.
