Please Save My Earth begins with an ordinary chore. Alice is shy and has just moved from a quiet hometown to a big city school, where a bratty neighbour boy named Rin harasses her. Then she is stuck babysitting him, and the annoying chore ends in unexpected tragedy. The premise is a cosmic mystery that unfolds from a simple moment of everyday life, and Alice soon realises there may be a greater force at work than mere chance. The series is most engaging when its quiet drama opens onto larger questions about fate and identity. The shoujo emotion gives the mystery a human centre, and the sci-fi elements add scale. The weaknesses are early chapters that can feel slow and a style that may feel dated to some modern readers. Readers who enjoy thoughtful, mystical shoujo will find a rewarding read. Those wanting fast action may find it measured, though the premise is distinctive.
