Hachi the cat finds most things monotonous, but at the top of his list is high school and all that comes with it. Then Aoi appears, and the routine begins to shift. That is a quiet, distinctive premise, and the series is built on the small, unhurried changes that happen when a dreamy outsider finds something worth noticing. The strength is the tone. The poetic, dreamy atmosphere is unusual, and the emotional beats are restrained and sincere. The pace suits a reflective read. The weaknesses are clear. The run is short, leaving much unsaid. The pace is very slow, and readers wanting clear plot movement may find it hard going.Recommended for readers who enjoy quiet, poetic stories with a distinctive voice. Take your time and let the mood settle.
