Mission: Yozakura Family is a bright, playful spy-family comedy with a premise that is easy to love. A painfully shy high-school boy finds that his only real friend is the daughter of a family of elite spies. When her overprotective brother starts making her life difficult, the boy has to find a way to win them over. The comedy is energetic, and the family dynamic is inventive. The romance is sweet and awkward, with a lovable lead who tries hard even when he is out of his depth. The action sequences are clearly staged and fun to follow. The honest cons: the overprotective brother gag can wear thin over time, and the plot can feel busy in the later arcs. Some side characters get less development than others. Still, it is a lively, charming read for fans of spy comedy. If you enjoy awkward romance with a dash of action, this is a fun pick.
