Terror has paralyzed the clockwork metropolis of Tokyo! Possessed by demons, people have begun to burst into flame, leading to the establishment of a special firefighting team: the Fire Force, ready to roll on a moment's notice to fight spontaneous combustion anywhere it might break out. The team is about to get a very unique addition: Shinra, a boy who possesses the unique power to run at the speed of a rocket, leaving behind the famous "devil's footprints" (and destroying his shoes in the process). Fire Force is a loud, flashy action series with a premise that is easy to sell. Spontaneous combustion is a demon problem, and a special firefighting unit is the answer. The energy is infectious, and the battles look great, with bold fire effects and creative powers that keep each fight interesting. The cast is big and colourful, and the team dynamic gives the story a strong backbone. The honest cons: the plotting can feel tangled, with threads that pile up and sometimes fade without much payoff. The tone can also get loud and repetitive, so the series can feel like it is shouting at you. It is a fun ride with plenty of spectacle, but it asks for patience when the story pulls in several directions. If you enjoy stylish shonen action with a unique setting, you will get a lot out of it. Keep your expectations on the fights and enjoy the spectacle.
