Rin Okumura is raised by a famous exorcist and knows very little about his own past. A hidden truth changes everything, and he swears to take on the most dangerous enemy he could face. That promise pulls him into an academy full of exorcists, demons and secrets. The premise is strong, and the series makes good use of its dual identity. The art is energetic, and the action set pieces hit hard, with clear choreography and big payoffs. The shounen momentum is steady. The drawbacks are structure. Early arcs can feel formulaic, with the school setting following a familiar template, and some stretches slow down for training and exposition. The series is still releasing, so its direction may evolve. Fans of demon-based shounen and school action will find a lot to enjoy. Readers who want lighter fare or a calmer pace may find it intense. A fast, engaging action series with a memorable hook and a few predictable turns.
