★ 4.5/5

A brutal, beautifully drawn samurai epic about an immortal swordsman bound to a vow of vengeance, with striking violence and a deeply human heart.

Pros

  • Striking, detailed ink art and sword choreography
  • A compelling, morally complicated lead
  • A bold, uncompromising tone that stands out

Cons

  • The violence is graphic and frequent
  • The long run can feel episodic in places
