Sousei no Taiga

The story centres on a young scholar enrolled in an anthropology seminary, who goes to Australia to observe rock paintings. That premise is thoughtful and unusual, and the series builds its mystery on the meaning of ancient art and the people who made it. The land itself feels full of secrets. The strength is the setting. The Australian landscape and the ancient art give the story a sense of wonder, and the scholarly approach adds intelligence. The supernatural threads are intriguing. The weaknesses are clear. Language barriers slow some scenes, and the pace is measured. Readers wanting fast action may find it slow.Recommended for readers who enjoy thoughtful, mysterious seinen adventures. Expect a patient, wondrous read. Its quieter moments reward readers who give it time.
