Ragna Crimson

Ragna Crimson is a dark fantasy built on a single, grim mission. Humanity lives under the threat of dragons powerful enough to annihilate it, and a hunter with a score to settle sets out to end that threat once and for all. The premise is simple, and the stakes are high from the first chapter. The art is bold, with action that feels heavy and physical, and the dragon fights carry real scale. The tone is shounen-brisk but stays grim, and the revenge motive gives the story a sharp emotional edge. The drawbacks are that the tone can feel bleak for readers who want lighter fare, and the mystery threads can slow the momentum when the focus shifts away from the fights. The series is still releasing. Fans of dark fantasy with a revenge spine will find plenty to admire. Those seeking uplifting stories should look elsewhere. A grim, hard-hitting pick with a strong sense of purpose.
