Reincarnated as a Sword is a cheerful, light fantasy with an unusual premise. A sentient magical sword has memories of his past life but not his name, and he saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. She becomes his wielder, and her one wish is to grow stronger, while he wants to know why he has been reborn. Their partnership is the heart of the story, and the comic contrast between the eager girl and the thoughtful blade is warm and funny. The artwork is bright and friendly. The honest cons: the adventure can feel episodic, and the plot is light enough that the stakes stay modest. Some side characters are thin. Still, it is an easy, pleasant read for fans of light fantasy. If you enjoy unusual partnerships, this is a good pick.
