Im: Great Priest Imhotep

From the sands of ancient Egypt to the streets of modern Japan, the newly resurrected Great Priest Imhotep travels across time and space on the hunt for the magai, devious beings with a range of strange powers. The premise is a comic action adventure that pairs an ancient figure with a modern world and lets their culture clash fuel the comedy. The strength is the contrast. Imhotep's ancient manners and the modern setting make for funny moments, and the action is bright and energetic. The mix of history and fantasy gives the story a playful feel. The weaknesses are about structure. The hunt for the magai follows a fairly repetitive shape, and the comedy can feel formulaic. Readers wanting a more varied story may find it predictable.Recommended for readers who enjoy light action with a comic twist. Expect a bright, playful read that is best taken in short bursts.
