Aishah de Senlin

A tragic young girl whose mother died giving birth to her. A wicked stepmother and three brothers with whom she shares nothing but cruelty. That opening is grim and immediate, and the series builds its story on a girl who learns to survive in a household that wants her gone. The premise is dark and historically flavoured. The strength is the heroine. Her resilience and quiet resolve give the story a steady spine, and the historical detail is evocative. The revenge threads add tension. The weaknesses are clear. The cruelty is relentless, and the short run keeps arcs compressed. Readers wanting a lighter tale may find it too bleak.Recommended for readers who enjoy dark, historical stories of survival. Expect a harsh, determined ride.
