That Wolf-Boy Is Mine!

Rin here. A city girl who has moved to rural Hokkaido to start over does not need a school heartthrob announcing, on her first day, that she smells good. Komugi's new life is off to a strange start, and the story leans into that awkwardness with a cheerful, supernatural spin. The hook is the playfulness. The hijinks are fun, the school setting is lively, and the rural backdrop gives the story a comfortable, grounded feel. The tension between the two leads is quick and bright, and the supernatural element keeps things from getting too sweet. The weakness is pace. The romance follows a steady, familiar rhythm, and some twists are easy to predict. The supporting cast is pleasant but thin in places. Still, it's a fun, easy shoujo romance for readers who like cute chaos and a dash of the uncanny. It doesn't reinvent the form, but it does what it sets out to do, and it does it with energy.
