My Boy in Blue

Kako gets tangled up when she lies about her age in order to attend a company mixer party for singles, and ends up totally infatuated with her young local policeman. The premise is a light romcom built on a white lie and the awkward romance that follows. The strength is the comedy. Kako's nervous efforts to keep up her lie are funny, and the policeman's earnest manner makes him an endearing love interest. The tone stays bright. The weaknesses are about the formula. The age-gap joke recurs, and the romance follows familiar beats. Readers wanting originality may find it predictable.Recommended for readers who enjoy playful, adult romcoms. Expect a light, cheerful read that is best enjoyed in short bursts.
