Also known as: Shinigami-sama to 4-nin no Kanojo, 死神様と4人の彼女, Grim Reaper and 4 Girlfriends
by Shin Suyama, CHuN
Kaoru Minaguchi is a "no-lifer" who sucks at school, can't play sports, lacks any real talent, definitely doesn't have a girlfriend, or even a remote desire to change any of the above...until a certain grim reaper pays him a visit. Turns out, she's a reaper of "no-lifers" and if Kaoru can't find a way to become a true "real-lifer," he's as good as dead...!In an effort to stay alive and increase his odds of landing a girlfriend, Kaoru sends love letters to four different girls in school...only for all of them to say yes! But if anyone finds out about his four-timing, he'll be back to being a "no-lifer" and, worse yet, back to imminent death! Forget romantic comedies--this one's a thriller!! (Source: Yen Press)

Kaoru Minaguchi is a no-lifer who sucks at school, cannot play sports, lacks any real talent, and definitely does not have a girlfriend. That premise is a playful setup, and the series builds its comedy on the sudden chaos of a loner who finds himself with four girlfriends at once. The jokes are quick and the cast is lively. The strength is the humour. The lead's self-deprecation is funny, and the playful misunderstandings give the chapters a quick rhythm. Some moments are sweet and sincere. The weaknesses are clear. The harem setup dominates, and fan-service distracts from the better moments. Readers wanting a sharper romcom may find it scattered.Recommended for readers who enjoy harem comedies that don't mind fan-service. Expect a light, uneven read.
