Denki-Gai no Honya-san

Umio is a shy kid who has just started a part-time job at a manga store, right in the middle of the city, where the neon lights are bright and the crowds are loud. The premise is a comedy about a nervous young worker finding his feet among colourful customers and co-workers.The strength is the setting. The shop is full of characters with their own quirks, and the everyday work gives the comedy a steady, friendly rhythm. Umio's shyness is endearing, and the story has a warm affection for its subculture. The weaknesses are about structure. The episodes can feel loose, and the long run repeats some of its jokes. Readers wanting a driving plot may find it slight.Recommended for readers who enjoy relaxed workplace comedies. Expect a gentle, pleasant read that is best taken in small doses.
