Human Chair

A woman enters a furniture store in search of a chair, but the proprietor is all too eager to reveal its past. That is a compact, unsettling premise, and the one-shot builds its horror quickly. The story is about the way an everyday purchase can open onto something far darker. The strength is the atmosphere. The eerie tone builds steadily, and the proprietor's eagerness is deeply uncomfortable. The short length keeps the reveal tight. The weaknesses are clear. The story is very short, so it cannot develop its ideas at length. The body-horror imagery is intense and may be too much for some readers.Recommended for horror fans who enjoy a sharp, self-contained tale. Expect graphic imagery in a brief, creepy package.
