Second-year culinary student Sakai has always dreamed of opening his own little restaurant and being able to touch people's hearts with his cooking, like his grandfather did. The premise is a cosy romance-drama in which a love of food and family memory drive the story. The strength is the warmth. Sakai's dreams feel sincere, and the cooking scenes make the food feel important. The tone is gentle and the characters are easy to like. The weaknesses are about scope. The short run keeps the story light, and the romance is a secondary thread. Readers wanting a deeper drama may find it slight.Recommended for fans of food-centred stories with a warm heart. Expect a sweet, comforting read that is best enjoyed as a treat.
