Shy Nakaba has been a shut-in ever since gossip at school destroyed his reputation. But when his mom finds him a job to help him back into the world, the story begins. That premise is a gentle, low-key comeback story, and the series is built on the small steps a recovering person takes toward other people. The strength is the sincerity. Nakaba's anxiety and quiet progress are handled with care, and the mart setting gives the story a warm, everyday texture. The tentative bond with his coworker grows at a comfortable pace. The weaknesses are clear. The run is very short, and the romance is understated enough that some readers may want more. The plot is light.Recommended for readers who enjoy gentle comeback stories with a soft heart. Expect a brief, quiet read.
