Arpeggio of Blue Steel

In the early twenty-first century, most of Earth's landmass is submerged due to rising sea levels. Enter the Fleet of Fog, a host of sentient alien battleships of unknown origin. The premise is a military sci-fi epic in which a flooded world must fight back against a mysterious enemy at sea.The strength is the design. The ships are richly detailed, and the sea battles have real scale and drama. The sense of a drowned world gives the story a striking, melancholy atmosphere. The weaknesses come from the density. The naval detail can slow the narrative for readers new to the genre, and the long run includes arcs of varying strength. Readers wanting a light read will find it demanding.Recommended for fans of military sci-fi with a strong sense of spectacle. Expect a grand, detailed read that rewards commitment.
