Hetalia Axis Powers

Think of it like World War II, except every country is a pretty boy instead. A hilariously stereotypical pretty boy. America loves burgers, Russia is into the vodka, and China has pandas. The premise is a comedy that personifies nations as exaggerated characters, and mines the stereotypes for laughs. The strength is the absurdity. The nations' over-the-top traits are funny, and the quick, sketch-like chapters are easy to enjoy. The art is clean and the tone stays light. The weaknesses are about the humour. The gags rely heavily on stereotypes, which can grate, and the episodic format can feel thin. Readers sensitive to national caricature may find it uncomfortable.Recommended for readers who enjoy silly, sketch-style comedy. Expect a light, sometimes stereotyped read best taken in small doses.
