I'm No Angel

In a brand-new high school with only first-years, Midori, a girl who gives her all, runs for a spot on the student council alongside Akira, a guy who sees things through. Once elected, their different styles begin to clash. The premise is a school drama about ambition, teamwork and the rivalry that becomes friendship. The strength is the heroine. Midori's wholehearted effort is inspiring, and the contrast between her energy and Akira's steadiness gives the story a lively pulse. The school setting feels fresh and full of possibility. The weaknesses are about age and focus. The art and pacing reflect the early nineties, and the romance is secondary to the election drama. Readers wanting a love story may find it lighter than expected.Recommended for readers who enjoy spirited school dramas. Expect a warm, dated read with a lot of heart.
