On her way home from school one day, Noriko is unexpectedly plunged into a strange and extraordinary fantasy world. Her troubles compound exponentially from there, and the series rides the wave of her adventures. That premise is classic and immediately engaging: an ordinary girl who must find her footing in a world that makes no sense. The strength is the scope. The fantasy world is sweeping, and Noriko's wide-eyed determination keeps the story moving. The adventure has a playful, youthful energy. The weaknesses are clear. The art and style feel dated, and the early adventure can feel episodic. Readers wanting a tight plot may find the structure loose.Recommended for fans of classic shoujo fantasy with a sweeping quest. Expect a nostalgic, lively ride.
