Ogre Verret, the eldest son of the Verret family, a family renowned for its viciousness, is a reincarnator. He was always getting cheated in his previous life because of his kind nature. The premise is a comic fantasy about a gentle soul in a fearsome family who sets out to make his second life count. The strength is the contrast. Verret's kindness clashes funnily with his family's reputation, and his determination to avoid old mistakes is endearing. The comedy and the warmth balance nicely. The weaknesses are about the formula. The second-chance setup is familiar, and some plot points are light. Readers wanting something new may find it standard.Recommended for fans of gentle reincarnation comedies. Expect a warm, funny read that is best enjoyed as a treat.
