The premise is a dark fantasy romance about a betrayed heroine and the vengeance that grows from her sacrifice. The strength is the emotion. Estelle's pain and her desire for justice give the story real weight, and the court politics add tension. The revenge arc has a clear, satisfying pull. The weaknesses are about the tone. The melodrama can be heavy, and some plot turns are easy to predict. Readers wanting a lighter romance will find it bleak.Recommended for readers who enjoy dark revenge fantasies.
