You Talk Too Much, So Just Shut It Already!

Tsukino Hiiragi was born deaf, and she has learned to read people by watching their lips. When an oblivious classmate suddenly starts talking to her, she is intrigued, and the comedy begins with that simple, sweet premise. The story is funny from its first pages, and much of the humour comes from the act of communicating itself. The strongest quality is the respect. The series treats Tsukino's deafness as part of who she is, not as a plot device, and the moments when the two of them work out how to talk to each other are charming. The classmate's enthusiasm is a fun counterweight to her careful, measured reactions. The weaknesses are clear. The short run leaves some threads brief, and some jokes repeat the same beats. Readers wanting big romantic turns may find the pace gentle and the stakes low.Recommended for readers who want a sweet, thoughtful romcom with real care for its subject. Enjoy the gentle, funny ride.
