Mara here. They said Aia was destined to be a model, and Jun was bullied for having freckles. That contrast sets up a fashion story that asks what it really means to be beautiful, and who gets to decide. The premise is sincere, and the questions it raises are sharp. The strength is the heart. The story takes its characters' struggles seriously, and the idea that a standard can be arbitrary feels inspiring rather than preachy. The fashion and makeup detail gives the story texture, and the sense of two people reclaiming their own image is moving. The limitations are the message and the pacing. The theme is sometimes stated outright, and a few scenes feel more like lessons than organic moments. The supporting cast is less developed than the leads. Still, it's a warm, earnest coming-of-age story for readers who want something uplifting. It may not surprise you, but it carries its message with sincerity and gives you a lot to think about.
