So-Ru is a princess born from illegitimacy, and she can see ghosts although she is completely blind. Ja-Hyeon is a heroic general who possesses the sun's aura, which can chase away the dead. The premise is a fantasy romance built on contrast, a blind woman who sees the dead and a man whose light keeps them at bay.The strength is the concept. The pairing of shadow and sun is poetic, and the emotional beats between the leads are moving. The court politics add tension without taking over the romance. The weaknesses are about length and pacing. The long run includes slower stretches, and the political plot sometimes feels secondary. Readers wanting a quick romance may find it deliberate.Recommended for readers who enjoy melancholy, poetic fantasy romances. Expect an atmospheric, emotional read that rewards patience.
