Uchi wa Wakarete Kurashiteru

Takefumi ran into his ex-wife, several years after they divorced and lost touch. He thought it would be fine to have a drink with her for old times' sake. But then he found out the shock that awaited him. The premise is a grown-up comedy-drama about a divorced couple reconnecting and the feelings that never quite disappeared. The strength is the honesty. The awkward conversations feel real, and the characters are adults who carry history. The gentle humour makes the reunion easier to enjoy. The weaknesses are about scope. The story is quiet and fairly slight, and the central premise can feel thin over the run. Readers wanting a more dramatic story may find it modest.Recommended for readers who enjoy quiet, grown-up stories about second chances. Expect a gentle, honest read.
