The Arnold Academy of Magic is a school for the elite...and Ray White is just your ordinary guy. In fact, he doesn't seem particularly skilled with magic at all, and is a bit of a klutz. Which is why he has nothing to do with the rumor that one of the great magicians, the Iceblade Sorcerer, is a member of the incoming class...right? (Source: Kodansha USA)

Rin here. A prestigious magic academy full of elites, and a bumbling everyman who insists he has nothing to do with the rumour that a legendary mage is in the new class. That's a fun setup, and the story runs with it. The contrast between the hero's klutzy image and the expectations around him is the engine. The action is the strength. The fights are lively, and the magic is inventive enough to keep the set pieces fresh. The school setting gives the story a good sense of rivalry and a place for the cast to show off their skills, and the comedy is upbeat throughout. The downside is familiarity. The harem setup is a well-worn route, and the protagonist's secret follows a path readers may spot early. Some characters are more archetypes than people. Still, if you enjoy magic-school adventures with a comedic bent and a steady stream of action, it delivers. It's a lively, easy read rather than an exceptional one, so set expectations to match.
