Jill Cervel, the magically gifted daughter of a noble family, dedicated her life to training for war. It was all for her fiancé and one true love, Prince Gerald der Kratos, until she is cast aside. The premise is a fantasy romance about a woman who gives everything to the wrong man, and gets a chance to do it differently. The strength is the heroine. Jill's power and her determination to change her fate make her compelling. Her growth from devoted fiancée to a woman with her own goals is satisfying. The weaknesses are about the formula. The long run can repeat its beats, and the romance follows familiar tropes. Readers wanting originality may find it predictable.Recommended for fans of second-chance fantasies with a powerful heroine. Expect a lively, familiar read that rewards commitment.
