Steel of the Celestial Shadows

It is said that a samurai's spirit rests in their sword, and Konosuke cannot even pick one up. A cruel curse repels anything made of metal that gets near him. The premise is a moody fantasy about a young man who is cut off from the traditions of his family, and who must find his own kind of strength. The strength is the concept. The curse is an inventive, painful obstacle, and it gives the story a strong emotional hook. The samurai setting feels atmospheric, and Konosuke's determination is easy to root for.The weaknesses are about the structure. The pacing is uneven, and the series is still releasing, so its arc is not complete. Readers wanting a faster story may find it slow.Recommended for readers who enjoy atmospheric fantasy with a samurai flavour. Expect a melancholy, still-developing read.
