Ever since being transported into the world of a book she read, Leana has had one goal: stay on the emperor's good side and avoid being sent to prison. The premise is a comic fantasy in which a reader must play it safe inside a story she already knows. The strength is the heroine. Leana's pragmatism and her knowledge of the plot make her a fun lead, and her attempts to stay out of trouble are often funny. The court setting is well drawn. The weaknesses are about the formula. The trapped-in-a-novel idea is common, and some romantic beats follow expected lines. Readers wanting originality may find it familiar.Recommended for fans of witty, self-aware fantasy comedies. Expect a fun, familiar read with a practical heroine.
