During a lunch outing, the two go to a pancake shop full of exuberant young ladies to "do what girls do," and it’s just the thing to breathe life into Nozue. At thirty-nine, Nozue lives a routine, if not melancholic, life of sleep and work. Togawa, his younger subordinate, finds this troubling and takes it upon himself to shake up Nozue's routine. The premise is a gentle romance between two adults, where a small change in daily life opens the door to something new.The strength is the restraint. The story treats its two leads with care, and the slow, quiet progression of their closeness feels genuine. The mature tone and the everyday setting give the story a distinctive feel. The weaknesses are about scope. The series is very short, so its arc is brief and the drama is slight. Readers wanting strong conflict may find it too calm.Recommended for readers who enjoy quiet, grown-up romances. Expect a soft, understated read that is best enjoyed slowly.
