My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought is a tense psychological mystery that starts with a deeply unsettling moment. A college student who has always dreamed of a girlfriend wakes up with one in his bed, and his friend tells him he got into a fight. Three days are missing from his memory, and he begins to suspect that the secret is one he has been hiding from himself. The premise is strong, and the atmosphere is tense and claustrophobic. The reveals are clever and keep you guessing. The honest cons: some twists strain believability, and the unsettling tone may not suit every reader. The pacing can be uneven, with long stretches of confusion before the next clue lands. Still, it is a sharp, gripping thriller for fans of mysteries with a personal edge. If you enjoy puzzles that turn inward, this is worth a look.
