In Made in Abyss, the bestselling creator Akihito Tsukushi took readers deep into the earth. Now, in this one-shot, he recounts the tale of an epic journey into the sky, and far, far beyond. The premise is a short adventure that shifts the creator's sense of wonder upward, toward the heavens and the unknown. The strength is the wonder. The sky-bound setting is imaginative and the sense of distance and mystery is strong. The journey feels grand even in a short space. The weaknesses are about scope. Being a one-shot, the story is brief, and it leans on the creator's wider world for much of its appeal. Readers new to that world may find it sketched.Recommended for fans of the creator who want another dose of adventure and wonder. Expect a brief, wondrous read that works best with familiarity.
