In the early 1960s, a major transformation of food culture took place in South Korea. After the war, starvation became a daily occurrence for the people, who had to make do with a bowl of honey-porridge made by picking out leftovers from US military bases. Jeon Joong-Yoon was worried about the lives of the people struggling in poverty and providing them with a proper meal. Kim Hang-pil, a new employee who finished his service as a KATUSA and got a job, thinks of his loved one and wants to join Joong-Yoon's cause. Hang-Pil's unrequited love, Lee Young-Hee, sells honey-porridge in an unlicensed shantytown, carrying the pain and sorrow of war. Loved ones and neighbors abandoned everywhere in the field of starvation. Through devotion, patience, and effort toward them, 'Ramen', a symbol of the common people's food, was born.
